Vivian Traylor Chapter of The Union of Black Episcopalians

Home

Welcome to the web home of the Northern California Vivian Traylor Chapter (NCVTC) of the Union of Black Episcopalians.

The NCVTC of the Union of Black Episcopalians was started in the 1980’s by Vivian Traylor, an active and faithful member of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Oakland, California. Our Chapter has continued to uphold the goals and purpose of the National Union of Black Episcopalians by:

  • Identifying and exposing structures of racism where they exist within the Church and society;
  • Seeking removal of such structures;
  • Promoting representation and participation of lay and ordained persons of color on all governing bodies of local churches and in dioceses.

Our Chapter provides a safe and comfortable place for people of the African diaspora to interact and fellowship with persons of the same heritage.  We are all on the same journey but not by ourselves; even if we are isolated in our congregations. We also find ways to fun together.
